Who we are

Moon-Jaguar-Strategies

Moon Jaguar Strategies is named after the 10th King of the city of Copán (Tzi Balam).  Moon Jaguar is credited with the creation of the Temple of Rosalila among other meaningful structures.  

Sayra Pinto, is the Chief Practitioner for Moon Jaguar Strategies LLC. In a 30-year career devoted to cross-sectoral social transformation, Sayra has worked with numerous human service organizations, colleges and universities, public schools, and philanthropic organizations. Sayra is an adjunct faculty member of the Graduate College at the University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School where she teaches in the Master’s of Leadership in Sustainability program and Transdisciplinary Leadership, Creativity and Sustainability PhD Program. She founded and is Board Chair of For a Loving Future. Sayra holds an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College, an MFA from Goddard College, and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Union Institute and University. She has published two chapbooks and a doctoral dissertation to date: Pinol : Poems (2012), Vatolandia (2012), and the dissertation The Ontology of Love: A Framework for Re-Indigenizing Communities of Color in the U.S (2015), among other publications.

Gabriela Hylton Garza, MPS, is committed to supporting future generations by co-creating a world rooted in love, respect, trust, creativity and learning. She has twenty years of administrative and management experience, specializing in project, event and program management. Gabriela has held various positions within philanthropy, human resources and education. She is currently the Operations & Program Coordinator and a Board Member of For a Loving Future, an organization that supports learning opportunities and community-building experiences rooted in Indigenous and ecological principles. Gabriela holds a master’s degree in Leadership for Sustainability from the University of Vermont.

Selene Calderón is originally from El Salvador, but grew up and still calls the Bay Area her home. She comes from a strong lineage of women who have helped mold her into the woman she is today. Their love taught her values and lessons that have guided her as a leader in her community. From a young age, she began advocating for her community and working to create spaces for healing and empowerment. Her volunteer and past work has focused on supporting immigrant communities, people impacted by interpersonal violence, and folks experiencing homelessness.

Hope Tyson is a visual artist, listener, and systems thinker from North Carolina. Her background is in reproductive justice, social movements, collective synthesis and sensemaking, and visual art. Hope’s work in visual thinking, human-centered design, capacity building and training, and community engagement has led her around the world and back to her home and community in the US South. Hope is committed to right relationship with the natural world, building warm and resilient community, and freedom and justice for all. She works in Spanish and English.
